Alissa Knight is a business magnate, American author, screenwriter, film director and producer. In 2020, Alissa formed Knight Group with her wife, Melissa Knight, which today controls 5 companies in publishing, marketing, events, and film production as well as a television and streaming service owned and operated by the Media and Entertainment Distribution division of Knight Studios. 

Best known for her "Mr. Robot" stylized cybercrime franchises, Alissa's cinematography and visuals were undoubtedly influenced by her early years prior to her arrest as a computer hacker. Some of the television series she is best known for writing, producing, and directing include Dark Ops (2023), Cloud Wars (2023), Ransom (2022), HEAT (2022), Scorched Earth (2022), and Underdog Games (2022). 

Alissa became a published author in 2019 with the release of her bestselling book Hacking Connected Cars (Wiley, 2019). Prior to her career as a film director and producer, Knight was a reformed Black hat computer hacker who was arrested at 17 years-old and later went on to work for the U.S. Intelligence Community in cyber warfare. She later started and sold 2 cybersecurity companies then became a media personality synonymous with car and API hacking when she hacked 55 banks in less than a week, published vulnerability in Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR) APIs and mHealth apps, and demonstrated the ability to take remote control of law enforcement vehicles. 

Alissa sits on the boards of Brier & Thorn, Tego Cyber, Conceal, Traceable, NightDragon, Noname Security, Deepfence, Illusive, and BlastWave. Knight is also the co-founder of commercial production house Knight Studios, part of the Knight Group owned by her and her wife, Melissa Knight, which is a holding group of a family of companies -- Knight Television, Knight Publishing, Knight Events, Knight Studios, and Knight Ink.

Nate Glubish was first elected as a Member of the Legislative Assembly for Strathcona-Sherwood Park on April 16, 2019 and re-elected on May 29, 2023. Nate was sworn in as Minister of Service Alberta on April 30, 2019. In that role he led the Government of Alberta’s efforts to apply technology to deliver better, faster, and smarter services to Albertans. He also developed the Alberta Broadband Strategy and negotiated a $780 million partnership with the federal government to deliver reliable, high-speed internet to every Albertan by 2027. On October 21, 2022, Nate Glubish was sworn in to lead the newly created Ministry of Technology and Innovation where he continued to lead the modernization of government services and led efforts to attract more investment in Alberta’s technology sector. On June 9, 2023, Nate was sworn in again as Minister of Technology and Innovation. Prior to his political career, Nate Glubish dedicated his professional life to building and investing in Alberta technology companies. He spent most of his 15-year career before politics as a venture capital investor, most recently with Vancouver-based Yaletown Partners, where he oversaw investments into Alberta-based technology companies. Nate Glubish has a Bachelor of Commerce degree, majoring in Finance. He is passionate about helping Alberta companies raise investment capital to commercialize innovative new technologies and to export their expertise around the world.

Adam is a multi-decade infosec professional who pays annual maintenance fees on a plethora of security certs. He refuses to take himself too seriously, and has spent his life taking things apart and then making the reassembly someone else’s problem. Adam is in his glory when situations are the messiest, applying lessons from emergency services into technology drama.

Alexander is responsible for leading KPMG’s Cyber Response Practice providing cybersecurity services to support and enable clients to better respond to cyber incidents before, during and after a cyber breach. 

With 20+ years of experience in Cybersecurity, IT and Privacy, Alexander has provided leadership to a number of multinational organizations, leading and delivering incident response and strategic cybersecurity engagements, practice leadership, and business development. His roles have included cybersecurity evangelism, conducting media interviews, keynote speaker and panelist engagements. Throughout his career Alexander has leveraged his business and cybersecurity background to advise public sector and private enterprise clients on next generation cybersecurity threat prevention technologies, methodologies and resiliency concepts. Combining his knowledge and professional experiences in IT and cybersecurity management, consulting and strategy, with his former finance and economics background, he brings unique professional qualifications, experience, and perspectives to his clients, addressing the ever-changing security landscape and how it impacts organizations.

I am a master’s student at Concordia University of Edmonton pursuing a degree in Information System Security Management. I am a highly proficient and goal-driven Systems Security Engineer, specializing in Linux System Administration and Information Systems Security. My expertise lies in designing, securing, and maintaining computer systems and networks, where I implement security protocols, firewalls, and access controls to safeguard against potential threats. 

One of my key achievements is leading the development of a cybersecurity risk assessment report for a payment gateway system, identifying and addressing potential security threats. My continuous learning and staying updated with the current trends in the field gives me the ability to apply my knowledge and skills to protect any organization.

Celia Wanderley is a highly accomplished executive with more

strength in envisioning and driving digital transformation

initiatives, including the associated organization change

management. Celia’s extensive experience in large scale

Meet Corey Ball - API Security Expert Corey Ball has emerged as one of the leading experts in API security and is the author of Hacking APIs. 

Corey is a cybersecurity consulting manager at Moss Adams, where he leads its penetration testing services. He has over ten years of experience working in IT and cybersecurity across several industries, including aerospace, agribusiness, energy, financial tech, government services, and healthcare.

Dan is the Global Head of Bot and Risk Management at F5. In this capacity, he works with F5 data scientists, analysts, and engineers to identify and analyze attacks against F5 customers. Prior to F5, Dan spent more than 20 years with local, state, and federal law enforcement and intelligence organizations including the FBI as a special agent where he investigated cyber terrorism; and the CIA as a cyber operations officer where he engaged in cyber operations. Dan also holds a BSE in computer systems engineering

David has a business law practice with particular focus on privacy, cybersecurity, and technology law. David is the National Co-Leader of the firm’s Privacy & Cybersecurity practice and serves as breach coach and counsel in cyber incident response for clients across Canada. David regularly advises clients on responding to data breaches, compliance, cybersecurity matters, data governance, and data protection/privacy risks in M&A and other commercial transactions. As privacy counsel, David advises businesses large and small across many sectors on how to leverage and protect data as well as how to compliantly utilize new technologies, such as generative artificial intelligence. Derran Guinan is an IT Security Specialist who collaborates with clients across Canada, educating and advising on various data protection and security solutions. Eric Jensen (CISSP, OSCP, NSE 7) is a Business Development Engineer for Fortinet Canada, where he advises and consults with solutions partners and customers on mission-critical security issues including compliance, risk management, and advanced threat protection. 

With nearly 10-years of experience delivering effective SIEM and SOC solutions through consulting engagements and in his previous role as the technical director of a Canadian MSSP, Eric is a proponent of using data analytics and automation to reduce the impact of cyber incidents.

Research Topic: Developing E-mental Health Programs for Rural PTSD Patients

Ernestina is the Founder of Uplift Learning Inc.. Uplift Learning Inc. is an elearning company that develops and delivers blended and online training. Uplift learning is currently focused on serving frontline professionals and their organizations. A passionate educator and mental health advocate, Ernestina's been on a 20-year mission to explore the role of education in mental and emotional health. Her experiences and MA research about trauma have inspired her passion about workplace resilience, adversity and trauma.

Workplace adversity is experienced as bullying, discrimination, overwork and direct trauma. These experiences create psychological workplace injuries such as burnout, PTSD and compassion fatigue. Workplace injuries take a toll on professionals, their colleagues and those they serve. Professionals and their organizations have a role to play in addressing these workplace issues.

When we don't have the language to describe the impacts of workplace adversity, finding proven support becomes an overwhelming task. Like so many, Ernestina had to navigate these workplace impacts alone. This specific experience led Ernestina to refocus her educational practice on delivering resilience programs for helping professionals and their organizations. She believes we shouldn't have to navigate this alone. It's time to change the conversation from 'what's wrong with you' to 'what's happened to you. This work represents Ernestina’s passion to support the evolution of workplaces that provide more curiosity, kindness and compassion.

In her educational practice, she's worked with diverse clients developing and optimizing training for in-person, e-learning and blended delivery. Ganesh is a Senior Manager in KPMG’s Cyber Security practice, with more than 11 years of progressive experience in technical security domains. His expertise includes incident response, digital forensics, malware reverse engineering, threat intelligence, threat actor attribution, security consulting, and security tool automations. 

Before joining KPMG, Ganesh worked as a Manager in the Cyber Security Incident Response Team (CSIRT) at one of the Largest Canadian Banks. In this role, he managed the incident response team and ensured the deployment of appropriate defense mechanisms to protect the bank and mitigate threats.

Harsh is a seasoned security engineer with over seven years of experience specializing in penetration testing for web, mobile, infrastructure, and IoT systems. His passion for cybersecurity and expertise as a bug bounty hunter have honed his ability to identify vulnerabilities and provide effective remediation strategies.

Jason joined Dell in early 2020 from IBM where he was a Solution Specialist inside the Global Technology Solutions (GTS) Resiliency Services organization. During his time there, he specialized in Resiliency Orchestration and Cyber Resilience and was part of the team that worked to develop a managed service offering for, and integration of the Resiliency Orchestration software with the Dell Technologies Cyber Recovery solution.

Jennifer is a seasoned leader with over two decades of experience in the dynamic intersection of IT, Security, HR and Sales.

Jennifer's journey in the IT industry began in the late 1990s when she started as a system administration. Early on she discovered the unique ability of understanding complex, IT projects and translating those initiatives to language that business leaders understood. Jennifer began ascending the ranks in various leadership roles, and together with her teams, successfully implementing secure IT solutions that laid the foundation for resilient organizations. Jennifer is currently a leader in Sales at a large, HR SaaS company, called UKG with over 15,000 employees.

As Jennifer's career evolved into leadership roles, she became interested in human psychology and neuroscience to understand people at a human level. She completed frameworks like Myers-Briggs, True Colours, and HBDI. Jennifer's passion for leading people combined with an introductory understanding of different types of personalities, allowed her to nurture mental health professionally and personally.

Martin Dinel is a trusted information technology and cybersecurity professional with over 34 years of leadership experience. As Chief Information Security Officer for the Government of Alberta since August 2015, Martin is defining the organization’s cybersecurity vision and strategy to counter the cyber threat and ensure the protection of the province’s digital assets. This year, Martin was one of 37 worldwide innovators featured in the Public Sector Network’s 2022 Global Government Innovators eBook. His current involvement in the cybersecurity community includes:

• Cybersecurity champion and speaker at various international conferences and events;

• Chair of the CyberAlberta Community of Interest, formed with the cybersecurity leads of Alberta public and private sector organizations to strengthen Alberta’s cybersecurity posture; and

• Member of the National CISO Committee on Information Protection (NCCIP), involving peers from all levels of governments across Canada, acting as Chair for 5 of the past 8 years.

Mashhood Ahmed embarked on his research journey into the realm of artificial intelligence (AI) and its profound impact on technology, project management and business in 2017. Over the years, he has shared his insights on this compelling subject at various global events such as the closing keynote at North Carolina PMI (Aug 2023), major conferences in New Zealand, Singapore, Africa, Canada, the US and a number of other in-person and virtual gatherings.

With an impressive career spanning over 18 years, he runs a consulting practice and also teaches project management at Grant MacEwan University. Currently, he also serves as an AI Advisor to a project management software startup. He is also ISACA Edmonton Chapter Board member.

Mr. Ahmed holds a master's degree from the University of Waterloo in Business, Entrepreneurship, and Technology, along with a Certified Information System Auditor (CISA), Project Management Professional (PMP), and a number of other industry certifications and designations.

Michael Doucet brings more than 30 years of cyber security and information management leadership experience to his current role. As an executive director, executive advisory in the Office of the CISO at Optiv, Doucet uses his past and present experiences to assist public and private enterprises plan, create and execute security strategies. Doucet uses his vast information security expertise to lead organizations toward a proactive approach to threat intelligence, third party risk management, governance and compliance, and incident management.

As a subject matter expert in cyber security and information management, Doucet’s broad business, operational knowledge spans multiple disciplines including change management, IT service continuity management, capacity management, availability management, service-level management, service asset and configuration management, information security management, defense in depth, incident management, vulnerability management, and policy and standard development.

Prior to Optiv, Doucet built, managed and oversaw program, security, and technology initiatives in the Canadian Federal Government. As the executive director of the Security Intelligence Review Committee (SIRC), Doucet independently reviews the Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS) on operations and complaints accountable to the Canadian Parliament in matters of Canadian national security. He previously was responsible as the chief technology officer (CTO) and then chief information officer (CIO) for the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP). Prior to leading the RCMP in information management, Doucet was the CIO/director general of the Information Management Services Branch at Correctional Service Canada. Doucet has also worked with the Communications Security Establishment of Canada (CSEC) where he represented Canada as CSEC’s senior cryptologic liaison officer to the National Security Agency (NSA).

Michael Spaling leads a team of professionals in various information security work for the University of Alberta. He's a recipient of the Queens Platinum Jubilee Medal for his notable contributions to the cybersecurity industry and has been recognized as a Top 10 Under 40 by Canadian Security Magazine. Michael has a handful of published CVEs to his credit and numerous vulnerability disclosures to various organizations.

Michelle Balderson is a seasoned professional who is process driven with a technical acumen. She is a Global Security Executive at OTORIO, where she focuses on consulting Enterprise clients on Risk to their Operational Environment. 

She’s known for her knowledgeable approach to security solutions well beyond simple technology discussions. She coaches clients to think beyond the technology, focusing Risk to the business objective, in combination with foundational security principals. She strongly believes it is important for you to understand what assets need to be protected, why they need to be protected, and what Risks in context to Business Objectives. Michelle has supported the deployment of cybersecurity solutions for IT and OT organizations globally. She is known for thinking beyond technology to the people, process and corporate culture that will be impacted with change. She is driven to align projects to the business objective and desired outcome rather than industry hype.

Before joining Beazley, Nicholas worked in Cyber Security at the Federal Court of Canada and, prior to that, he managed various IT Projects within the Federal Court of Canada’s Top-Secret Environment. 

Based out of Beazley’s Toronto office, he is responsible for managing and enhancing Beazley’s cyber risk management and incident response functions.

Nick is a seasoned Information Technology (IT) professional with over 25 years of experience in the IT security field. 

In addition to ten years of experience gained from managing a SOC for a critical infrastructure/energy concern, Nick brings outstanding knowledge in endpoint protection and network security: he has helped design, implement, and support endpoint security solutions for some of Canada’s largest healthcare and retail organizations.

Nickkisha Farrell-Myles is a Technology Professional and Consultant living and working in Edmonton Alberta.  With over ten (10) years of experience in Information Technology, she currently focuses on Cybersecurity.  Her experience spans the domains of security architecture, governance, risk, and compliance while working in public and private sectors including Fortune 500 companies.  Nickki has a background in pedagogy and has helped develop several ICT and cybersecurity courses in the Caribbean and Canada.  She describes herself as a lifelong questioner and loves learning.  When she isn’t strategizing on how to do Cyber better, Nickki loves connecting with and serving in her community, listening to podcasts, or reading a good book, she’s usually reading at least two at the same time.

Peter has over 30 years of experience in the software industry with nearly another 10 years before that as an amateur programmer. Peter has spent the last 20 years in the world of web application development and application security. As an independent consultant, Peter spent time developing solutions for securing network and application access for Fortune 1000 and security conscious government organizations. Peter currently works with F5 Networks as a Senior Security Solutions Architect where he is helping protect today’s economy from cyber-attacks.

I am a second-year graduate student at Concordia University of Edmonton, currently pursuing a master's degree in Information Systems Security Management. Concurrently, I am employed as a security research graduate at Treefort Technologies. I actively engage with several  organizations, including WiCYS Western Canada Affiliate, ISACA and ISC2 Student chapters.

Prashant has a Bachelors and Masters in IT from India and 14 years of IT experience in Canada across various industry verticals. He works as a Senior Cyber Security Advisor for a Fortune 500. Robin Tong is the Lead Cyber Security and Technology Risk Consulting Partner for KPMG Prairies Region and has over 17 years of experience in governance, risk management, assurance services. Robin currently leads all Technology Risk and Cyber engagements for government agencies in Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba: Government of Alberta through the Auditor General of Alberta and projects for multiple Departments and Crown Corporations for the Government of Saskatchewan and Manitoba.

Stephen has a broad perspective and experience with technology in the real world having written network and operating system level software, and worked in operational, architectural and managerial cybersecurity roles since the early days of the Internet. 

With over 20 years of experience in the Oil & Gas Sector both working for an owner/operator and as a third-party consultant, he has an intimate understanding of the risks, tradeoffs, and approaches to balancing safety, security, and business drivers in complex industrial environments.

Dr. Vincent Chiew, Ph.D.,MACM, SMIEEE, ITIL, CISSP, CSSLP, I.S.P., ITCP/IP3P, PMP, P.Eng., FEC, FGC (Hon.) 

His Ph.D. research focused on the most powerful computing system in the world, human cognition, and human intelligence. He first implemented automated intelligence system over 30 years ago. Currently, he is teaching AI (Artificial Intelligence) in various courses for Haskayne School of Business at the University of Calgary.
